In August last year, I predicted that Donald Trump would not become the Republican candidate for president. Well, I'm still well on track for my prediction (unlike others who thought he'd be gone by last year), but I'd like to upgrade it from Nostradamus status to a clearer crystal ball with minimal fog marks. Political hell, of course, loves to fog up the looking glass in these cold winter months.
Mr. Golf-Divot-For-Hair will be out of the race by late May.
Here's why:
We're just about to start hitting the first Republican primaries in February.
February 1 - (Iowa)
February 9 - (New Hampshire)
February 20 - (South Carolina)
February 23 - (Nevada)
Trump can't and won't win them all. As is fairly predictable seeing as how they're in the 2nd and 3rd spots, Cruz and Rubio supporters will be coming out to the primaries in droves as their supporters are finally pushed out of their living rooms by the idea of a Trump presidency. [Sadly, I'm predicting a higher than average voting turnout for primaries this year because of a up-and-coming national push against him. Thanks Trump for restoring democracy. Ironic, don't ya think?] Then the Ides of March will bring more support as the band-wagoners jump into the Rubio and Cruz camps as their support grows. Which one will take it, no clue; however, my 51/49 bet would be for Rubio.
Cruz, in my honest and ruthless opinion, is about as authentic as a potato [not to mention he looks like one. And yes, you can add Mr. Carrot-Orange to that roast.] Seriously? It seems like every word he spits out of his mouth has been combed through GOP focus groups just like his comb-over.
Don't worry my friends. The inferno of a political season will soon be over, and we can all rent out a stadium and eat ice cream when the Trump Card finally fails to do just so and gives his concession speech. My birthday is around late May too. Two different birds. One cake to celebrate them all.
So let's keep our fingers crossed and keep checking the polls. Maybe if I'm right here, some think-tank will pick me up. I've heard the White House is hiring next year.
